Teamviewer 6
There's a lot of competition in the remote control software market and for personal use our money has been on the free, browser-based LogMeIn for quite some time now. But with the new version of TeamViewer, that's set to change.
Fundamentally, TeamViewer's appeal is much the same as that of LogMeIn: it's completely free for personal use, and you can remote control as many PCs as you like. With tweaks to speed in the new version, performance is comparable between the two, and both are pretty much platform agnostic, allowing you to control Linux, Windows and Mac computers.
The key advantage TeamViewer holds over LogMeIn, however, is its flexibility. First off, you don't have to set up an account at all to get going with TeamViewer - just install the software on each machine, give them passwords, and all you need do to connect is type in the generated unique identifying number at the other end. Alternatively, for one-shot support jobs, a non-installing executable can be downloaded.
Creating an account and registering PCs to it, however, makes managing multiple machines easier, and also opens up the ability to use the browser-based interface for machines on which you don't want to install the software permanently.
Once you're in, it looks even more impressive. The toolbar along the top of the remote control window offers not only the usual scaling and image quality options, but also a quick file transfer window, video, VoIP and instant messaging tools, the ability to set up conferencing calls between multiple machines, and even establish a VPN connection for transferring files via Windows Explorer.

Lego Creationary
Simple game, very nice layout, graphics. Creationary is an app that is based on the popular Lego board game. The Creationary app, which is also available for the iPhone or iPod Touch, integrates the touch screen to roll the die and determine which of four different build categories will be used.
The categories include nature, buildings, vehicles and things. You can also roll the random or double score random. Once the category has been determined the game begins to slowly build an item, while four different choices of what the item might be is displayed around the borders of the screen. The point of the game is to guess correctly as quickly as possible and the quicker the guess the higher score you will rack up. One wrong guess ends the game, and the player can go through as many as 15 different rounds. Creationary is strictly a one player game, but when you have finished you can share your score via Facebook.
The app is free
ibrainstorm
Sharing, note taking and free drawing as well as post-it linking. You can then collaborate with other iPads and share plans and on screen work through Bluetooth and network.
Program Functionality: B- Allows up to four people to collaborate (somewhat) on a brainstorming diagram or group thinking process. Once the diagram or brainstorming has been completed, the diagram can easily be emailed to all participants. Must have an iPad for the iPods to be used. (ie. Teacher on iPad, students on iPods) As students type on the iPods, they just flick their finger and their ideas will be flipped over to the iPad. See YouTube demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKFpEMG3BF4
Classroom Use Examples/Ideas: Need to be on the same local wifi, but can be used via Bluetooth if you turn off wifi on all devices. Students could collaborate on a diagram add text, note-taking. Could be used in small groups: teacher writes something and students add to it on iPod Touches and flip it over to the teacher. The need for an iPad is a bit of a drawback. Dragon dictation
Plenty of uses especially when you start passing the iPad around the class. Each child getting chance to speak and you start to build up a story. The story is typed out, you can edit, add pictures and then post or print out a finished story. Really simple, very straightforward.
"This should get a lot of iPad owners excited. Dragon Dictation, which has been so popular on the iPhone, is now available for the iPad.
The app is free for a limited time, and adds some new features to the original iPhone version. The app also includes a new Dragon Dictation Notes feature that lets users speak and save drafts of documents, emails, to-do lists, social media status updates, and more.
"Dragon Dictation has proven to be a must-have app for iPhone and iPod touch, so it made sense to immediately extend those benefits to iPad," said Michael Thompson, senior vice president and general manager, Nuance Mobile. "The iPad is a unique and remarkable device, and with the Dragon Dictation App users can experience added flexibility and convenience as they quickly convert speech into text."
Pirate treasure hunt
Really simple app for ks1 pupils. Nice straight forward interface with spoken instruction and guides.
"Join forces with Pirate Jack. He needs your help to solve eight problems and find the hidden treasure. Use the map to work your way through the obstacles one by one and in the right order. Make sure you collect the correct item before tackling the next obstacle. For example, you'll need to find a lantern before you can explore the dark cave. Use different strategies to solve the clues, and you'll find the booty. This learning object is one in a series of three objects."
The learning object:
provides opportunities for students to solve problems using their literacy and numeracy skills within the context of a pirate treasure map;
encourages the use of trial and error to discover the correct sequence of problem solving;
includes a variety of problem types which focus on, for example, spelling, shapes, visual cues, word knowledge, addition of numbers and time.
